I believe that writers owe a lot to their community, and when the community finds itself in need, then writers must respond one way or the other. So, I decide to compile a whole bunch of links from reputable and local organizations who are fundraising, helping others, or are in need of help.

You'll notice I've left off the Red Cross, and that's because I'm not convinced they're doing a good enough job for the communities affected by Hurricane Harvey; and honestly when it comes to natural disasters like Harvey, like Sandy, like Katrina, you always want to go local because that's where you'll see the money best sent. Whether it's organizations like the Greater Houston Community Foundation or individuals who lost everything in the storm and now are running GoFundMes or YouCarign sites, that's where your money and your labor are best spent.

I will be periodically updating this page with more fundraising links as well as links to volunteer opportunities.
