Special Saturday Eagle Update!

As a follow up from this post from two weeks ago:

Texas Teen Book Festival has announced four more authors to add to their conference. So, this is a shout out to Sarah Rafael Garcia and the Barrio Writers for making this push; and a shout out to the Texas Teen Book Festival leadership for this decision. Per their website

We are beyond excited to announce that we have scored FOUR more amazing authors to add to our 2016 #TTBF lineup! So, ready your reading list for an update, and add four more great books to those pre-fest reading goals!

Today we celebrate the addition of
Guadalupe Garcia McCall,
author of Shame the Stars;
Joe Jiménez,
author of Bloodline;
Rene S. Perez II,
author of Seeing Off the Johns;
& Isabel Quintero,
author of the award winning Gabi, A Girl in Pieces
and recipient of the
first annual
Barrio Writers Featured Author Sponsorship,
given this year in partnership with the
Tomás Rivera Mexican American Children’s Book Award!
But wait! That’s not all the great news!
Barrio Writers will also be hosting a writing workshop opportunity at the festival. We will be announcing details and registration opportunities in the near future, so keep an eye out! That info will be coming soon … along with more exciting news about new programming being developed with Red Salmon Arts and Alamo Drafthouse!
Stay tuned for all that and more, including this year’s Texas Throwdown line-up. We’re nowhere close to being finished!
The new authors.

The new authors.

Whenever people say protesting doesn't work, rabble-rousing doesn't work, agitating doesn't work, I point to things like this. We're starting a conversation that we needed to have for the betterment of ALL Texas children.

So, hooray!
